What Is Equivalent Duct Length?
Equivalent duct length represents the additional resistance caused by duct fittings. Instead of calculating pressure loss for each fitting separately, they are converted into an equivalent straight duct length.
Equivalent Length Formula
Total Equivalent Length = Number of Fittings × Equivalent Length per Fitting
Example Calculation
- Number of elbows = 4
- Equivalent length per elbow = 3.5 m
- Total equivalent length = 14 m
This value is added to actual duct length for friction loss calculations.
